Making the right business decisions under pressure

Making the right business decisions under pressureThink about the last time you made a decision under pressure. It’s a hard task, isn’t it?

As business owners, our decisions are very important.

After all, it can make or break our business.

And it won’t just affect the growth of the business. It’ll also affect the lives of your team and their families.

Now, it’s easy to make business decisions when things are great.

When you’re reaching your revenue goals and sales targets, you can make decisions quickly.

Your numbers are making you feel comfortable. And that makes you confident.

But what if you’re required to make a decision under pressure?

I’m sure that with the pandemic, you had to make difficult choices.

The pressure is on for you to find out what it takes to keep your business afloat during these times.

How can you make sure you’re making the right decisions under pressure?

Pause.

That’s really the key.

If you feel like you’re out of your comfort zone and yet you’re forced to make a decision…

Pause, but don’t freeze.

Because when you freeze, you ignore making a decision. And that could do more harm than good to your business.

Pause to gather your thoughts.

Allow your brain to catch up with everything that’s happening around you. If you must, step out of your workplace to clear your thoughts.

The goal is to calm yourself so you can make practical decisions.

When you’re under pressure, it’s easy to let emotions rule over your decisions. That makes you reactive. And it’ll only make you do irrational things.

Pause so you can make the most accurate decisions.

Allow your brain to function properly.

Consider all sides and try not to pressure yourself to make desperate decisions.

Think about the best option based on the information you currently have.

Look at the scoreboard, but don’t let it affect your emotions or make you act in desperation.

Be rational about things.

Remember this:

The act of pausing is a great strategy to unleash your brilliance with every decision you make.
