Outwork Everyone: The Unsexy Truth Behind Success

Let’s have a heart-to-heart. This one’s for the doers, the dreamers, those incredible women juggling empire-building and everyday life—like figuring out what the hell to cook for dinner whilst building your business. We’ve all been there, questioning if we’re the only ones struggling this hard. Well, you’re definitely not alone, but you do need to hear this because real success is gritty, messy and far from the polished facade everyone’s selling.

In this episode, I’m sharing the unglamorous truth about what it really takes to build something meaningful. We’ll explore:

– Why the “overnight success” myth is dangerous

– What real grit actually looks like

– Why you need to do continue to do the reps

– My formula for staying consistent when motivation runs dry.

Here’s my challenge to you this week: pick your rep and commit to it daily for the next 30 days. Track it, cherish it and fall in love with the process rather than the outcome. This is how empires are built—one unglamorous, tenacious step at a time. And, if this resonates with you, share it. Let’s lift each other up and remind ourselves and others why we started in the first place.

Hello everybody

Janine:

and welcome back to another

Janine:

episode of Unleashing

Janine:

Brilliance in today's episode.

Janine:

Well, this one's

Janine:

for the doers.

Janine:

It's for the dreamers.

Janine:

It's for the women

Janine:

building empires whilst

Janine:

also figuring out what the

Janine:

hell to cook for dinner.

Janine:

the ones that are chasing

Janine:

those big visions and

Janine:

wondering, am I the only one

Janine:

that's struggling this much?

Janine:

I wanna give it to

Janine:

you straight today.

Janine:

You're not, but you do need

Janine:

to hear this today because

Janine:

success, it's not sexy,

Janine:

it's not smooth, and it's

Janine:

certainly not streamlined.

Janine:

Success is gritty.

Janine:

It's messy, it's

Janine:

uncomfortable, and it's

Janine:

about one thing, and that's

Janine:

putting in the bloody

Janine:

reps. Now, I don't know

Janine:

who needs to hear this, but

Janine:

there's no such thing as

Janine:

just manifesting success.

Janine:

And sitting back with a

Janine:

green smoothie waiting for

Janine:

your million dollar business

Janine:

to drop from the sky.

Janine:

Trust me, I've tried it.

Janine:

I've manifested the bejesus

Janine:

out of things and vision

Janine:

boarded and affirmations.

Janine:

It just doesn't work.

Janine:

Everywhere you look,

Janine:

you are being fed these

Janine:

filtered fairytales, "Six

Janine:

figures in six weeks".

Janine:

Build a business in a weekend,

Janine:

replace your income while you

Janine:

sleep, or come on please.

Janine:

What they don't show

Janine:

you is the backend slog.

Janine:

The late nights, the launches

Janine:

that flop, the rejections,

Janine:

the tears in the shower

Janine:

when no one is watching.

Janine:

You know what's really behind

Janine:

those six figure months, 6

Janine:

years of consistency, 600

Janine:

moments of self doubt, and

Janine:

6,000 times where you showed

Janine:

up and no one has clapped.

Janine:I wanna take you back to:Janine:

That was the year.

Janine:

I started writing my blog.

Janine:

No fancy website, no

Janine:

marketing plan, just me

Janine:

and a Word doc, and a

Janine:

quiet question in my gut.

Janine:

What do I actually

Janine:

want to say?

Janine:

Every Sunday I'd

Janine:

write and I'd post.

Janine:

Guess what?

Janine:

No likes, no comments.

Janine:

Absolute silence.

Janine:

Some weeks the only one

Janine:

who actually read it, it

Janine:

was probably my mom or my

Janine:

best mate, and even she got

Janine:

bored, but I kept going week

Janine:

after week, year after year.

Janine:

That blog became my IP.

Janine:

That IP became keynotes.

Janine:

Those keynotes became

Janine:

frameworks, a client base,

Janine:

and it became my business,

Janine:

my books, and this podcast.

Janine:

Now, it's easy to look

Janine:

at the outcome now and

Janine:

go, wow, Janine, look

Janine:

at what you've built.

Janine:

But you know what?

Janine:

Back then it looked

Janine:

a lot like nothing.

Janine:

You want a shortcut?

Janine:

Here's mine.

Janine:

I just didn't quit.

Janine:

Let's talk about

Janine:

grit for a second.

Janine:

Angela Duckworth

Janine:

defines grit as

Janine:

passion and perseverance

Janine:

for long term goals

Janine:

not passion for a moment,

Janine:

not perseverance for a week.

Janine:

Long term, this is what top

Janine:

performers have in spades.

Janine:

Not the smartest, not

Janine:

the most connected,

Janine:

the most consistent.

Janine:

And here's the kicker.

Janine:

Consistency is boring.

Janine:

There.

Janine:

Set it.

Janine:

It's not glamorous.

Janine:

It's repetitive, but you

Janine:

know what's not boring?

Janine:

Looking back five years later

Janine:

and realising that you've

Janine:

built something unstoppable

Janine:

because you kept showing up.

Janine:

You see most people

Janine:

quit in the dip.

Janine:

The dip is where it's

Janine:

hard, where the results

Janine:

are slow, where you are

Janine:

questioning everything.

Janine:

And that might be going

Janine:

on for you right now.

Janine:

Right now we are living in

Janine:

quite challenging times,

Janine:

times that we've never

Janine:

really been in before.

Janine:

Times where there's political

Janine:

unrest, there's global unrest,

Janine:

where there's governments

Janine:

changing, where we're worrying

Janine:

financially, the cost of

Janine:

living, the risk of recession.

Janine:

There's so much change

Janine:

going on that is affecting

Janine:

you and it's affecting your

Janine:

clients and their propensity

Janine:

and desire and speed

Janine:

around making a decision.

Janine:

And what happens when

Janine:

things aren't going

Janine:

quickly for us is we start

Janine:

questioning everything.

Janine:

And that is where the

Janine:

95% tap out, but the

Janine:

top 5%, they get it.

Janine:

They understand that

Janine:

success doesn't look

Janine:

like a straight line.

Janine:

It doesn't look like a

Janine:

straight staircase of

Janine:

one step each and every

Janine:

time after the other on

Janine:

that stairway to success.

Janine:

It's actually more like

Janine:

a drunken octopus falling

Janine:

up a hill, it just

Janine:

doesn't happen that two

Janine:

steps forwards, 100 back.

Janine:

Well, I know that's

Janine:

what happened for me.

Janine:

That's what I experienced,

Janine:

because here's what I know.

Janine:

If you want to be in that 5%.

Janine:

You've got to act like it.

Janine:

Especially when it's hard.

Janine:

And I don't say that

Janine:

from some pedestal.

Janine:

I say it as someone who

Janine:

at a point in her business

Janine:

had $50 left in the bank.

Janine:

I also at the same time

Janine:

had three kids under seven,

Janine:

a husband out of work,

Janine:

and still chose to keep

Janine:

building because I believed

Janine:

even when no one else did.

Janine:

So how do you actually do it?

Janine:

How do you put in

Janine:

the reps when your

Janine:

motivation is in the bin?

Janine:

Well, here's my formula it's

Janine:

a rebel magician formula of

Janine:

keeping those reps going.

Janine:

First up, you've gotta decide

Janine:

what is your non-negotiable

Janine:

rep. You know, pick that

Janine:

one thing that if you

Janine:

did it daily, if you did

Janine:

it every single day, and

Janine:

potentially try to make it

Janine:

better by 1% every single

Janine:

day, that that one thing

Janine:

would shift your business.

Janine:

Is it emails?

Janine:

Is it pitching?

Janine:

Is it content?

Janine:

Is it practice?

Janine:

So pick that one

Janine:

non-negotiable rep.

Janine:

Second thing, create

Janine:

a ritual around it.

Janine:

Make it sacred.

Janine:

You know, I have a candle

Janine:

that I light when I write.

Janine:

I know it's a little bit

Janine:

silly, but what it does

Janine:

is it triggers my brain.

Janine:

It puts me in that space.

Janine:

It helps me tap out

Janine:

of my every day into

Janine:

this space of writing.

Janine:

And my challenge for you is

Janine:

to create a ritual around

Janine:

that non-negotiable and find.

Janine:

The magic for you.

Janine:

The third piece is to track

Janine:

your reps, not your likes.

Janine:

I use a very simple

Janine:

tally system.

Janine:

Forget the dopamine

Janine:

hit of social media.

Janine:

Just focus on the input.

Janine:

input If you are challenging

Janine:

yourself to do one email

Janine:

a week, write a blog a

Janine:

month, do 10 sit ups every

Janine:

single day, just track it.

Janine:

Don't watch the outcome,

Janine:

track the action, track

Janine:

the activity because it

Janine:

is the compound effect of

Janine:

that activity that gets

Janine:

the result and gamify it.

Janine:

Gamify it.

Janine:

This is the next step

Janine:

for me, gamify it.

Janine:

I make sure I reward

Janine:

myself, whether it be

Janine:

Champagne Fridays, if I

Janine:

hit my reps, little rituals

Janine:

that make the process fun.

Janine:

And by the way, I'm currently

Janine:

gamifying the recording of

Janine:

these podcasts right now

Janine:

because I literally just

Janine:

got a text from my BFF.

Janine:

Asking me if I wanted to

Janine:

go for a Friday drink.

Janine:

And I went, I'm busy

Janine:

recording podcast right now.

Janine:

I can't just drop this

Janine:

because then I'll be behind.

Janine:

And I said, give me an hour.

Janine:

I'm gonna get these podcasts

Janine:

done and then I'll come

Janine:

and join you for a drink.

Janine:

So I've gamified the

Janine:

ability to do the work to

Janine:

keep going when actually,

Janine:

you know, there's that

Janine:

wonderful, shiny thing.

Janine:

But this is mainly me

Janine:

being in service to you.

Janine:

It's the consistency

Janine:

of every single.

Janine:

Week being able to

Janine:

put out a podcast.

Janine:

And build that grit circle

Janine:

around you surround yourself

Janine:

with other high rep women.

Janine:

No whiners.

Janine:

Just doers.

Janine:

So let me be blunt.

Janine:

If you're not where you

Janine:

wanna be, it's not because

Janine:

you're not good enough.

Janine:

It's not because you've.

Janine:

Not got the skills or the

Janine:

smarts or the experience.

Janine:

It's not because of

Janine:

any of those things.

Janine:

It's probably because

Janine:

you haven't stuck

Janine:

it out long enough.

Janine:

And I say that with all the

Janine:

love in the world because

Janine:

we've been conditioned

Janine:

to expect quick wins and

Janine:

we'd be conditioned to

Janine:

expect success overnight.

Janine:

We think struggle means

Janine:

that we're failing.

Janine:

It doesn't.

Janine:

It means we're doing something

Janine:

that really matters to us.

Janine:

And if it were easy,

Janine:

everyone would be doing it.

Janine:

But you are not everyone.

Janine:

You are you.

Janine:

And that means that you've got

Janine:

to build something brilliant.

Janine:

That means you've got

Janine:

something brilliant

Janine:

that you want to build.

Janine:

And if you are willing

Janine:

to work harder than the

Janine:

person next to you, wow,

Janine:

success will come your way.

Janine:

So here's your

Janine:

invitation this week.

Janine:

I want you to pick your

Janine:

rep, commit to doing it

Janine:

daily for the next 30 days.

Janine:

Track it, honor it, fall

Janine:

in love with the process,

Janine:

not the outcome, because

Janine:

I promise you this is

Janine:

how we build our empires.

Janine:

One brave.

Janine:

Boring, badass rep at a

Janine:

time, and if this episode

Janine:

hit you in the gut or the

Janine:

heart, please share it.

Janine:

Please tag me.

Janine:

Please let me know.

Janine:

Let's lift each other up.

Janine:

Let's make sure that you

Janine:

are sharing this episode

Janine:

with a fellow brilliant man

Janine:

or woman that you know is

Janine:

on the edge of quitting.

Janine:

Let's make sure we

Janine:

achieve success together.

Janine:

And as always, if you've got

Janine:

32nd, please leave me a little

Janine:

love note on your podcast

Janine:

wherever you're listening

Janine:

to this, because your

Janine:

reviews really do help this

Janine:

podcast grow, and that means

Janine:

more magic for all of us.

Janine:

Until next time, put in

Janine:

those reps. Trust the process

Janine:

and keep unleashing that

Janine:

unapologetic brilliance

Janine:

of yours, because this

Janine:

is about going after

Janine:

the life that you want.
