This week has been a masterclass in frustration. Conversation after conversation with brilliant women who are absolutely nailing their craft, delivering incredible results and changing lives—yet still charging like they’re apologising for existing. It’s become clear that we need to address the uncomfortable truth about pricing that’s been lurking in every business strategy session and every late-night “why am I struggling financially?” moment.

Let’s talk about money, worth, and why so many of us are still undercharging like our expertise comes with a permanent discount sticker. This isn’t a topic that can wait until next quarter when you’ve got your confidence sorted, or next month when market conditions improve. This stops today. Because every day you undervalue yourself is another day you’re teaching the market—and yourself—that your brilliance isn’t worth paying for. Your pricing problem isn’t about the economy or your competition—it’s about the story you’re telling yourself about what you’re worth.

The Real Cost of Playing Small

I have to break it to you: undercharging isn’t modesty—it’s self-sabotage dressed up as humility. It’s the most expensive habit you can develop in your business, sneaking in as stress, resentment and that soul-crushing overwork that leaves your bank balance unreflective of your true brilliance.

We’ve been conditioned to be grateful, reasonable and affordable. But here’s what nobody tells you: every time you discount your rates, you’re not just losing money—you’re teaching clients how to value you. Your pricing isn’t just a number; it’s your positioning. It tells the world exactly how much you believe you’re worth.

My Own Pricing Wake-Up Call

I’ve been there. Despite 20 years of building global brands and negotiating at C-suite level, I priced my first business like I was fresh out of uni. Sound familiar? I was hustling non-stop, working myself into the ground, yet my bank balance told a different story entirely.

It took a mentor calling out my “burnout machine” for what it was before I realised the truth: I wasn’t running a business—I was running a charity with myself as the primary donor.

The Mindset Traps Keeping You Broke

Fear of rejection. Good girl conditioning. Comparison syndrome. Imposter syndrome. Pick your poison—they’re all keeping you stuck in the discount bin of your industry.

But here’s the reframe that changes everything: you’re not selling time; you’re selling transformation. Clients aren’t paying for hours; they’re paying for insight, wisdom and results. If you generate $50,000 in revenue for a client, does it matter if it took you two hours or two months? No – the result is what matters.

Stop asking “What’s affordable?” and start asking “What’s the result worth?” Because when you apologise for your rates, you’re essentially saying your expertise isn’t valuable enough to command them.

Finding Your Goldilocks Price

Most of us undercharge because we’re too close to our own brilliance. But it’s important to remember that what feels easy to you is gold dust to your clients. Your “Goldilocks pricing” is that sweet spot—not so high you’re panicking, but not so low you’re resentful. It’s just right.

This pricing respects your preparation, your presence and your expertise. It energises you instead of draining you, and it lets you show up as the powerhouse you actually are.

How to Raise Your Prices (Without Apology)

First, audit your current pricing. What does it actually represent? Then define your value—both the tangible results and the intangible relief you provide.

Choose a number that feels thrilling but not terrifying. Practice saying it until it rolls off your tongue naturally. When someone asks about your rates, state them with confidence and then stop talking. No apologies, no “I can make it cheaper,” no bending to fit someone else’s budget. This is your new mantra: “I don’t compete on price. I compete on value.”

Your Pricing Revolution Starts Now

So here’s the question: are you pricing based on fear, or are you pricing based on your brilliance? Staying cheap won’t help you make the impact you’re capable of, and it certainly won’t fund the life you’re working towards.

But pricing with power? That changes everything. It attracts the right clients, funds your dreams and finally gives you permission to show up as the expert you’ve always been.

Your worth isn’t negotiable. Your pricing shouldn’t be either.
