Would you believe me if I told you…

The other week I was sitting at my desk slowly working my way through my inbox when I received the most fabulous email from Debbie, one of the women that I had the pleasure of meeting in my days of running the LBDGroup.

And the reason that this email caught my attention was because after 22 years in business, Debbie was selling her business. Now not only is this a cause of celebration and nostalgia, but it’s also a huge act of trust. Trust that the person you are selling your business to is the right person to keep your dream, and your legacy alive. So I was thrilled when I saw that the wonderful woman taking over Debbie’s business was yet another member of our LBDGroup Kylie.

That’s right!

The friendships and connections that were formed years ago were the same ones creating business opportunities for Kylie and opportunities for Debbie to leave her business in safe hands after decades of hard work. In fact, by reaching out to Debbie in my excitement to share her story and the power of networks, she informed me that Kylie was also in the process of helping another LBDGroup member acquire another business.

So even after all these years the act of being intentional about connection, about choosing to connect transformationally instead of transactionally, is still creating ripples in the business lives of these women.

In Debbie’s own words, “The network is still networking!”

Not only is this an incredibly reflective moment for me around how the impact of the community I built all those years ago was still growing, but it’s also reaffirmed for me that the best thing you can invest in right now is your network. So let’s talk about the first step you can do to start connecting intentionally.

The first step is assessing where your network is right now. Do you have your core 4? If you’re wondering what that is I’ve got a little reminder below.

The Promoter: Ever had someone in your corner who believes in you more than you believe in yourself? The Promoter is your personal cheerleader, pushing you to reach for the stars. They tell everyone about what you do and make sure that you are mentioned in the right rooms.

The Butt Kicker: Big dreams are awesome, but action is what turns dreams into reality. The Butt Kicker keeps you accountable, making sure you’re doing what it takes.

The Teacher: Whether it’s a mentor or a community, the Teacher offers insights that guide your journey.

The Pit Crew: Just like a racecar driver’s crew, you need a support system that’s got your back. These are the folks who lift you up and provide emotional fuel, especially when the going gets tough.

For each of these categories, you need one person who is not your spouse, your best friend, or even your family. If you’ve found holes in your core 4 then this is your starting point.

And if networking really isn’t your jam? Then I can help you make it be. There are only a few days left to get early access to my Build Your Network Program.

If you want to:
