Have you ever found yourself standing at the crossroads of opportunity, wondering whether to take a leap of faith or play it safe? In our professional lives, we’re often faced with the daunting choice of stepping into the unknown or sticking with what’s comfortable. But what if I told you that embracing the unknown could be the key to unlocking unprecedented success?
I recently had the pleasure of travelling to New York with the wonderful Gabrielle Dolan ( who I affectionately call Relle).
Our initial plan was simple: head to New York and attend the IWF International Leaders Conference.
But somewhere between our conversations and the allure of the city, we found ourselves asking, “What if we ran a workshop here?”
It was a big challenge, an experiment to see if our successful Australian workshop, the Winning Formula, would translate across to the US market.
We decided to go for it.
We took a leap of faith, not knowing what the outcome would be. And what a leap it was! We had participants from all over the United States, and even someone from Africa, join us. One of the most inspiring attendees was a woman in her 70s, who, despite her extensive accomplishments, still possessed an incredible willingness to learn and the power of connection. This alone was a testament to the impact of our work and the universality of our message.
Our workshop covered crucial elements for leaders looking to enhance their skills. We helped the participants learn how to construct and deliver stories that communicate values and purpose. We explored the what, why, and how of storytelling and the importance of authenticity in leadership. We identified the real inner circle network necessary for professional success and built strategic networks and personal connection plans to drive success. It was a day filled with learning, growth, and so much joy.
What made this experience even more memorable was the fun we had along the way. We brought snacks from Australia to share with our participants, and halfway through the workshop, Relle and I even swapped outfits just for a giggle. Our venue, the Edison Hotel, just off Times Square, added its own historical charm. Did you know that Thomas Edison himself turned on the lights there? It was a perfect backdrop for our daring experiment.
This experience taught me something profound: the power of experimentation. In today’s fast-paced world, the willingness to experiment and take risks without knowing all the answers is invaluable. It’s about the courage to potentially fail and not being scared of what that means. How are you doing that in your business? How are you embracing the unknown?
Getting curious and experimenting is about pushing boundaries, trying new things, and learning from both successes and failures. It’s about showing up, taking risks, and being open to whatever comes next.
It’s about daring to be different and forging your own path.
So, I dare you to say “Why not” and see what you come up with.
Step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Embrace the possibility of failure as a stepping stone to success.
Whether it’s a new project, a different approach to an old problem, or an entirely new venture, take that first step. Your “just right” moment might be closer than you think.
