Are you stuck in the waiting room of success?

Today, I want to shine a light on a common trap many of us fall into—the proverbial waiting room of success. It’s that place where our dreams and aspirations are put on hold, often indefinitely. 

But not today. 

Today, I’m inviting you to learn how to leave that waiting room behind for good.

I once had the pleasure of working with a senior executive in the property industry. This young woman, in her mid-20s, harboured dreams as vast as the Australian Outback. Her goal was to make a life and career move from Australia to London, but she packed a heavy suitcase full of excuses—too many obligations, unsupportive staff, and that old chestnut, “it’s just not the right time.” Her boss even told her that she needed to put in the hard yards before she could possibly take on the role she desired and move abroad.

Together, we started dismantling those excuses one by one. We didn’t just dream about her life in London; we planned it out meticulously. We created actionable steps and embraced a mindset of possibility rather than limitation. And within a year, this young woman was making a new home in the UK, sipping Pimm’s along the Thames.

Transforming “I wish” moments into “I will” actions starts with a shift in mindset—from passive to active, from dreamer to doer. It’s about replacing “I can’t” with “How can I.” 

Where could you be if you actually took action today? 

Do you want to still be sitting in the waiting room of success this time next year? Or do you want to be out there living your dreams, celebrating your successes, and building your life and business by design?

In order to move in the direction of your dreams, I have three actional steps I’d like you to take today:

  1. Write Down a Small Achievable Action

Identify one small, achievable action that you can take right now. It might be as simple as doing some research, making a phone call, or even setting up a meeting. But write down that one small actionable step and take it today.

  1. Schedule It

Whatever that step is, put it in your calendar right now. Give it a time and a date. Make it as real and urgent as a meeting with your boss or a client. Remember, you are the boss of you.

  1. Seek Inspiration

Find a podcast, a book, or a community that aligns with your goals. Let the successes of others fuel your journey and remind you that what might seem impossible is often very achievable. Don’t fall into comparisonitis or feel like you’re not good enough. Step into your full self and use the positive energy and opportunities from others to move forward.

Let me remind you, it might feel safe to wait around, but it won’t bring you closer to your goals. No one is coming to rescue you. Achieving your dreams is about being brave, committing to action, moving beyond your comfort zone, and really making those dreams a reality.
